Yes. You read that right! KETO Portuguese Bean Soup. I know you’re curious, so gets into it!
I hope you enjoy our ohana Portuguese Bean Soup recipe. My tip is to prep all of your veggies and meats by cutting everything before cooking. I am a one man band and also work full time so I didn’t have time to prep everything the way I wanted. But please, make your life simpler and do as I say not as I do. Haha.
Keto Portuguese Bean Soup Nutrition
According to Carb Manager (the app that I use to track my macros), this recipe will be (if you use the exact ingredients that I used), 4.9 net carbs per 1 cup. Yes, 1 full cup. That is a generous serving! I have the recipe, directions, and links listed here:
RECIPE
1 cup of onions, thinly sliced 1 cup of carrots, cubed 1 cup celery, thinly sliced 3/4 cups of Rao’s Pizza sauce 1 package of keto friendly elbow macaroni (I am using Great Low Carb Bread Company) 3, 10 ounce Portuguese sausage (I used Pacific Sausage Brand INC.) 1.5 to 2 lbs of fully cooked ham hock (Our ohana usually uses Farmer John ham but I used what I could find) 1 can black soy beans
DIRECTIONS
Boil the onions, celery, and ham hocks for 45 minutes to an hour (until ham hocks are softened). Be sure the water level covers the top of the ham hocks. Add ham to pot, boil for 20 minutes Add carrots and Rao’s pizza sauce, boil for 10 minutes, add water to cover the ham hocks if necessary (I shredded the ham hocks at this point, but if you have time to wait, you can allow it to boil until it naturally begins to fall off the bone) Add Portuguese sausage, boil for 10 minutes Add Black Soy Beans and Elbow macaroni, boil for 10 minutes
